Mae Madison, 91


Mae M. Madison, 91, of South Sioux City passed away Monday July 12, 2010 at a South Sioux City Care Center.

Services were 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Becker - Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Joan Frenzel officiating. Burial was in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home was one hour prior to the service.

Mae was born July 26, 1918 in rural Winnebago, NE the daughter of Lewis H. and Nellie R. (Kunzie) Miller. She attended school in South Sioux City. She married Roy V. Madison in 1936. The couple farmed in the Winnebago area before moving to South Sioux City in 1956. She was employed at Windcharger Company, Zenith Corporation and as a CAN at various nursing homes. She retired from Sunrise Manor after twenty-five years of employment.

She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her family and grandchildren and her pets.

Survivors include two sons and their wives: Jimmie and Frances Madison of Homer, Joe and Cathy Madison of South Beloit, ILL, her twin sister Margaret Mast of Winnebago, 15 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Marine "Toots" Miller of California and her pet pug dog Simon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Betty Brookings and Judy Merchant, a brother Leonard "Bud" Miller and a sister Martha Clayton.
